These cicada prints in floating frames combine two of my interests: DIY drypoint printing and pressed botanicals. Intaglio printing the "proper" way requires expensive machinery and a fair amount of space, neither of which I had access to. So I scratched a cicada into some plastic packaging and "printed" it by using my full body weight to transfer the image. 

Yeah, it could be better but you know what, I like it the way it is.
